Now the dust has (literally) settled, we can let you know the full details of our refurbishment!

Since its launch in August 2013, Pastille has come a long way. Our client base has built up from literally zero to several thousand, we’ve solidified our reputation as Leeds’ go-to salon for gel manicures and hand-painted nail art, and have picked up some awards too. In January, we were even added to Vogue’s top ten list of salons to visit outside of London. So where were we supposed to go from there?!

We figured we needed to continue with the approach that has made Pastille so successful – that every tiny detail counts. On a day to day basis, this comes from our small but perfectly executed treatment menu, where you can find specialist services such as gel manicures and Russian Volume Lashes.

We realised we needed to go one step further, and in a few weeks essentially re-launched the whole business. This involved: a HR overhaul, re-designing our website, being extra attentive to our social media, changing our Team’s uniforms… and of course the most obvious change is how the salon looks! HUGE thank you to Joanne Crawford Photography for capturing the changes so perfectly.

Our loyal regulars will remember that Pastille had a large reception desk, which we realised was far too big for its purpose and closed off part of our open-plan space. This was taken out and replaced by an open bar area with a marble top and white tiling. This is complimented by accessories in Pastille’s signature mint green colour, and a tall perspex ‘ghost’ chair.

We also added a breakfast bar as a waiting area in the front of the salon, accented by mint green industrial chords ending in large light bulbs, meaning that clients benefit from our floor to ceiling windows that look out into Granary Wharf whilst they wait for their appointments.

Our Pedi platform has also gotten some TLC, as we’ve added pale grey tiles to support our Pedi armchairs. Overall this has opened up the salon, and enhanced the friendly, neighbourhood feel we put at the heart of what we do. We had a really hard time not buying every single mint green accessory we could find (thanks Liv).

As with our original launch event, there wasn’t a lot of time to actually make the physical changes and also co-ordinate an exciting party to celebrate. We are forever grateful to Beverley ( for her amazing support on the latter! Pastille has always worked with, and supported, beauty bloggers, and we wanted to continue this tradition, especially as it meant we could show our thanks for their dedication over the last few years.

The party was strictly invite-only so that guests could fully benefit from everything the newly refurbished salon had to offer. Our most popular treatment is our Gel Mani, and each guest received this forty-minute treatment as a complimentary gift from us to celebrate the refurbishment, and show what Pastille is really about! We did have our puppy Winnie ( in her salon uniform too, who loved all the attention from guests!

Pastille is a women-centred, community-focused space, and the refreshments on the evening were no exception. For drinks we chose bottled Bloom Gin and tonic/rose lemonade, as Bloom is the only female-run distillery in the UK. Our favourite Italian hangout Livin’ Italy, one of our independent Granary Wharf neighbours, supplied a gorgeous antipasti selection too.

We also had local TV station Made in Leeds hovering amongst guests to capture all the highlights, and details of the brand-new refurbishment. What guests didn’t see before the party was Erene and Abra being interviewed about the refurbishment, and offering advice for budding business women in Leeds!
